At thirty Sebastian is one year into his contract with Jim. He has effectively wiped Jim Moriarty off the map, driven the entire operation underground, and made Moriarty not a name, but an entity. He has become the operator through which all the various jobs and people go through. He hasn’t slept with Jim, but he’s met Nick, and finds him wildly arrogant and a bit of a toerag.

This is the year that Sebastian allows Jim to get hurt, but he fixes it quickly, disposing of the entire Mann operation in one week - a record not even the police have been able to match. He’s sent out to Italy and realizes he better start learning more languages and starts with Italian first, brushes up on Spanish during a trip to the Baja Peninsula, and thinks about starting up German.

Sebastian is two years into his contract with Jim and he has, under the powers of persuasion that only Jim Moriarty can execute properly, has taken his boss to bed exactly two times in the last six months of his employment. He had a girlfriend, named Terry, for a while, and Jim walked into Sebastian’s apartment, trying to understand why Sebastian wanted that woman and not him. Sebastian shrugs and says it’s the way she cooks Italian Food, the way she smells in the morning, fuck it boss, it was just the way she was.

A few months later Terry is gone but Jim is still around and he pins Sebastian to the wall and kisses him fiercely and something clicks for a few hours in Sebastian’s head and they go to bed for the second time. Sebastian wonders what on earth he’s doing and in the morning goes for a long run and when he gets back to his apartment Jim is gone and the boss doesn’t mention it, but he wears this smirk for weeks.

When Sebastian is twenty he doesn’t get paid for the first time, his client completely skips out on the check, doesn’t even offer cash, and can’t even be bothered to take Sebastian out for a decent dinner. He kills three tigers this year, five panthers and comes limping home after he gets snagged on the calf by a tush from a rather aggressive wild boar. He gets angry at Hamadri and throws her out for a week before he begs her to come back to him, bringing her lotus flowers and a new necklace and promising never to do it again. He’s still a kid, but that’s falling away quickly. He experiments with a beard and hashish and decides neither suit him.

He learns how to hold his liquor this year, and learns how to speak properly, with the Englishmen who pay him for animal skins and elephant rides. He realizes that he can’t remember London except for the rain, and there’s plenty of that in India, anyway.

That monsoon season his street floods, but they can stay on the second floor and paddle to where they need to go. Luckily Sebastian’s guns stayed dry and he didn’t loose his source of income. As soon as the storms left, the tourists came, and he helped some of his neighbors out, offering them a roof over their heads as they rebuilt their houses.

When he was ten Sebastian was attending a private school in London, England. He was an angry child, not very loud, but aggressive. He would push people over to take their place on the swing, unapologetically cut in line for lunch, and simply wouldn’t speak when the teacher asked him for the answer.

He was unquestionably bright, but defiant, and that was simply not tolerated in the Moran household. He was sent to bed most nights with very little dinner, had few privileges and fewer friends. His sister was really the only one he was even remotely nice to, and when he yelled at her in spanish from across the playground his tone would make it seem like he was angry at her too.

Last year Sebastian met Anthea, and the Holmes brothers. He developed an intense distaste for the elder and held barely a passing interest for the second. He agreed to go for an interview with Langdale Pike and hasn’t had much more contact with the man.

He established his base in Adelaide, South Africa, and took more than a few pleasant business trips down to the Cape. He almost thought about picking up surfing, but then he brought Jim down to show off his work. They had to take care of some rival leaders and rented a boat, chummed off the back of the transom and Sebastian had to hold the men above the water. 

Three men were fine, the woman lost a foot but her husband fell into the water and disappeared. 

Sebastian has never thought about picking up any watersports since.

When Sebastian is nineteen he’s in India with his girlfriend. He lives with her, works odd jobs around the neighborhood, picks up country plumbing,  basic wiring, carpentry. He still plays pick up cricket in the streets, is too-long, too-tan, still a kid and scruffy, rough around all the edges. 

He’s gaining a reputation, slowly, and he kills his first tiger a few days after his birthday in March, and gets to keep the eye teeth and sells them to get Hamadri a new sari. He bags his next big cat in December, and doesn’t keep any of it, but tries to find a way to buy Hamadri something nice for Christmas. She just laughs at him when he tells her why he’s disappointed.
